COME JOIN US ON 6TH MARCH 2019 FOR SOHAR UNIVERSITY TRANSLATION DAY, ORGANIZED BY THE FACULTY OF LANGUAGE STUDIES.

WE WOULD LIKE TO HEAR

from you about your translation knowledge, expertise, and experience in translation practice, offering or using translation and language services, and/or working with translators.

In particular, we would be very much interested in hearing your views about what makes a professional translator, what the characteristics and personal attributes of professional translators, and what competencies and skills our students need to compete in the translation job market.

Your contribution about any topic in translation and interpreting is highly appreciated, whether in the form of a lecture, oral or poster presentation, panel discussion, or participation in one of our translation contests and workshops.

Parallel Activities:

STUDENTS may choose to participate in either one of these two parallel activities:
  • subtitling workshop; OR
  • translation contest
Please be informed that the seats in these two activities are limited (30 students per activity) and will be on a first come, first served basis.

Guidelines

Paper and Poster Presentation Guidelines

Topics of interest:
Topics related to:
  • translation, interpreting and language services
  • contributions on translation and interpreting market needs and employability are particularly welcome.

Submission Guidelines

  • Abstracts should clearly state the objectives of the presentation and provide a clear summary of the content.
  • The abstracts should be between 200 and 250 words.
  • Use the abstract template --> DOWNLOAD
  • Papers and posters may be presented individually, in pairs or in groups.
  • In a pair/group presentation, the first author serves as the primary contact for all correspondence regarding the abstract.
  • Participants should state the category in which they wish to enroll: oral/poster presentation.
