The Sohar MBA programme brings together industry professionals for management education in a collaborative learning experience. The programme connects an exclusive network of industry leaders from diverse backgrounds, giving candidates access to invaluable insights from the business world. Case studies as well as frequent participation in group work help students learn from their peers. Students are also invited to share their expertise and experiences, which enable them to contextualize business concepts with their profession while learning.

Programme at a Glance

The program consists of 12 courses, typically taken over four semesters (2 years). Each semester is divided into two blocks of 9 weeks each. Courses can start at each of these blocks and exams (where applicable) are at the end of each block. Students can take one or two courses per block. However, students are allowed to register a maximum of 3 courses per semester only. The classes are conducted by the Faculty of Business, during the weekend throughout the semester and consist of interactive lectures, workshops, case studies, guest speakers and individual and group presentations. Entry Requirements

Before applying for the MBA programme, please consider our minimum entry requirements, which include academic qualifications, managerial/professional work experience and English language requirements. All candidates will be interviewed to assess their professional skills.

Normally, entrants to Sohar MBA programme must:

  • Have three or more years of professional work experience at an appropriate level;
  • Hold a bachelor degree (or equivalent) with:
    • GPA 2.4 out of 4.00 for candidates with 3 to 4 years of relevant professional experience or
    • GPA 2.25 out of 4.00 for candidates having more than 4 years of professional experience.
  • Applicants who have completed a diploma with 8 – 10 years of demonstrable managerial/professional experience can also be considered.
  • Satisfy the English proficiency requirements: an IELTS score of 6, or TOEFL score of 500 or above in paper-based exam, or score of 173 or above in the computer-based exam, or 61 in internet-based exam (not more than 2 years old).
  • If candidate’s first degree was conducted in English, they will not have to provide evidence of their proficiency in English.
  • All admissions are subject to the approval of the Minister of Higher Education in Oman.

Fees and Finance

The fee for the Sohar MBA total OMR 5,400. The fee per course is OMR 450. There are 12 compulsory courses for the MBA Programme. Please note that these fees are only applicable for students starting the programme in September 2018 and completing the programme within 2 years.

Application Deadline

Applications for the MBA programme beginning in February 2019 is now open. The deadline for February 2019 intake is November 30, 2018. Applications after this date will be considered only for September/October 2019 intake.
