Two Sohar University student research teams win the “2018 Italian Technology Award”

Two teams of Omani students from Sohar University have won the 2018 Italian Technology Award in the Plastic Technology discipline.
The Italian Technology Award is a scholarship prize awarded to students in engineering and technical disciplines following a special competition based on submission of papers on different topics such as the use of production technologies for the sectors concerned including machine tools, Plastic technology, packaging, and other sectors. A jury of Italian and international industry experts, professors, and engineers select the winning entries.
The Awards are organized and promoted by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and the Italian Machinery Manufacturers Associations (Federmacchine). The aim of the award is to improve the image of Italian technology; to spread knowledge of Italian production among those who will be future managers of foreign companies and as such potential purchasers and users of production systems "Made in Italy"
For this year's edition, the winning teams are from Oman, Canada, China, Iran, Mexico, Romania, Russia, USA, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
Both Oman teams have participated and won the “Plastic and Rubber Processing Machinery” discipline which is sponsored by (AMAPLAST).
Accordingly, the competition organizers will sponsor the travel of two Omani students and one professor as part of 61 participants to visit Milan and join a week of full industrial experience and training. During their stay in Italy, students and professors are offered a tailored program of in-class learning sessions and seminars, as well as factory visits and excursions to industrial sites. The visit program is organized and delivered by the Galli Academy which is part of the European Institute of Design.Sohar University is proud to be part of this award and look forward to bring more experience on hi-technologies to Oman to support the diversification of the economy.
