Sohar University Students Participate in the First Forum of Debates

The students of Sohar University participated in the first forum of debates under the title of “Dialogue Makers”, held at the College of Applied Sciences in Ibri on the 2nd of October, under the supervision of Dr. Rashid Al Hajri, Chairman of the National Youth Commission (NYC). A number of teams from different Higher Education Institutions in the Sultanate, the Directorate of Education in Ad Dhahirah Governorate, and a group of elite teams of debates in Oman, participated in the forum.
Sohar University participated in this forum with a team consisting of: Mazen bin Saeed, a student at the Faculty of Law and a member of the field of debate, the coach of the Sohar University team, Fatima Bint Saeed Al Ameri, a student at the Faculty of Engineering, and Aisha Bint Hamad Al-Risi, a student at the Faculty of Education and Arts.
The Forum included a number of activities. It started with the opening ceremony, followed by a workshop prepared by Mr. Omar Al-Ansari. The discussion was then presented by two teams of students from some educational institutions. Then, Mr. Salem Al-Shamakhi, the ambassador of the Qatar Debate Center, conducted a workshop on how to prepare an arbitrator. The forum was concluded with a session of reviewing experiences, presented by Mr. Khamis Al-Maamari, Professor at the Faculty of Applied Sciences in Sohar. At the end of the closing ceremony, the participants were honored to bring the first forum of debates to a successful conclusion and a unique experience
