4th Teaching and Learning Conference at Sohar University

Under the slogan of "Discover and Learn", Sohar University organized the annual conference on Teaching and Learning in its fourth edition under the patronage of H.E Sheikh Ali bin. Ahmed bin Mishary Al Shamsi, Wali of Sohar, in the presence of the VC of Sohar University Professor Barry Winn, the Executive Management of the University and a number of the academic and administrative staff, in addition to a number of guests from various governmental and private institutions and representatives of universities and colleges in the Sultanate.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Professor Barry Winn delivered the University speech welcoming the audience; then, Dr. Junifer Abatayo gave a briefing on the guest speaker. After that, the keynote speaker of the fourth edition of the Teaching and Learning Conference, Dr. Stewart Ross, Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at the Minnesota State University, delivered his speech.
The conference is considered one of the most important events at the University. This year, it discussed a number of topics during which more than 40 presentations and workshops were presented, highlighting many important academic aspects such as "Technology-Enhanced Classrooms", "Contemporary Learning and Higher Education Assessment", and “Cooperation and Professional Development”. The conference also discussed: "The Millennial Mindsets and Future of Work, Developing a collective Agenda to Engage Pedagogical Shifts”, and “Teaching and Learning Assessment Strategies”. It also discussed the topics of “Evidence-based strategies to enrich student learning” and “the effectiveness of using social support sources in reducing the work pressure of a sample of Omani teachers”. This is in addition to some other topics.
On the sidelines of the conference, the winners of the Distinguished Teaching Award for 2017/2018 were honored: Dr. Abdullah Bin Ali Al Shibli from the Faculty of Law and Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al Ajmi from the Faculty of Education and Arts at the University.
