Sohar University, as the first private University in Oman, is committed to assuring the on-going quality of its operations, both academic and administrative. It is determined to meet not only the demands of the Ministry of Higher Education but to reach high levels of international standards in its academic activities. In order to implement effective quality assurance systems, the University has drawn up a quality assurance strategy and also set up a Quality Assurance Unit and associated committee system which will ensure the implementation of the strategy in all areas responsible for different aspects of academic life. The University has its own degree awarding powers but at present certain awards are quality assured by The University of Queensland Australia. Others are offered in collaboration with the University of Mu’tah in Jordan (according to subject). Awards are conferred by Sohar University (not jointly with the overseas collaborative partners) but collaboration with overseas partners helps to ensure the verification of standards.

Sohar University Quality Assurance Office coordinates the review and implementation of systems and procedures to ensure constant and continuous improvement across all aspects of the University operations, in order to achieve the University Mission, Vision and Values.
