The ITS team takes care of the following sectors of services:

Networking |
| |
The network infrastructure in Sohar University covers all areas of the campus. All computers are connected to the network.
The Network consists of two parts, the wired areas in computer labs and offices, and the wireless areas in the library and the common halls and open areas.
All students and staff have their own accounts; they can use these accounts to protect their privacy where everyone has his own folder for storage. |

Computer Labs |

At the current time we have 12 computer labs, and more under construction.
There are around 600 computers in the labs at the current time. |
|
Staff Support |
| |
Approximately 300 computers are used by the staff and in the classes. The ITS team maintains these computers and provides the required support and configuration to all users.
Staff has their own external and internal e-mail and they are provided with internet connection using a leased line and a number of ADSL and 3G wireless Connections. They are able to use the network from anywhere inside the campus.
Every staff has a dedicated area on the server to save his data, so our team is in charge to help the staff as well as the students to understand how to use their accounts and facilities in an efficient way.

Software, Website and Databases |

Sohar University uses university management software called PEAK, this application provides a full management of the Stores, Finance, Students registration, purchasing and other facilities.
ITS provides training and support to all users and works closely with the software company to modify or change any new requirements.

Telecommunications |
| |
We have in the university our own telephone switch, and ITS is responsible for providing all staff and departments with telephones and connection.
The cabling, devices supplies and connection configuration including the panels and switches are part of the ITS team responsibilities. |
|
Audio/Video |
| |
As a part of ITS support to the teaching process, a number of data show projectors have been installed in most teaching classes and laboratories, and connected to fixed computers.
In addition to the above, we have installed announcement electronic screens, to help in providing the announcements from the management of the university, faculties and other departments to the students in a fast and direct way.
