| SOHAR UNIVERSITY OPENING OF SECOND SEMESTER |

Last February 13, 2010, Sohar University opens its gate to welcome students for the Second Semester 2010. Feeling of excitement and curiosity will be seen on the faces of the new enrollees. Old students on the other hand are seen to be energized and rejuvenated after a short period of break from their classes.
This year, the University’s headcount of students reached to 5,000 in number and this figure is expected to increase when the new buildings and facilities are built. Presently, the University has four major faculties namely: Faculty of Business, Faculty of Computing and Information Systems, Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Faculties offer three awards – Diploma (2 years), Advanced Diploma (3 years) and Bachelor (4 years). Masters is offered in Education Administration and Curriculum & Teaching Methods. In the future, Masters of Business Administration (MBA) will be offered also in the University.
The new facilities and buildings will include the following: Faculty of Engineering Building; Theatres Complex; Faculty of Humanities building; Administration building; Graduation Hall; Second Female student’s Hostel; Sports playgrounds; Mosque; Library and Learning Resource Centre; Sports Complex.
It is envisioned that when these facilities are built, the University will be able to accommodate more than 10,000 students.
In the end, Sohar University wishes all students to have another semester of enjoyable and yet valuable learning experience!!!
