Sohar University signs a Cooperation Agreement with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO)

Sohar University has signed a cooperation agreement with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in several fields aiming at finding common areas of cooperation between the two institutions. The agreement was signed by Professor Barry Win, the Vice Chancellor of Sohar University and Eng. Abdul-Amir bin Abdul Hussain Al-Ajmi, the Executive Director of External Affairs of Petroleum Development Oman.
The agreement provides for funding Sohar University by PDO to assist it in three key areas: enhanced oil recovery, water management, and energy efficiency and security. This is by encouraging the exploitation of the renewable energy sources and energy efficient technologies. Further, a technical center will be established at the university which will allow the company's experts to benefit from it and contribute to the development and implementation of educational programs.
The efforts of both institutions will combine to encourage small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs to conduct their research and test their theoretical perceptions and creative ideas inside the laboratories of the university before embarking on any future trade agreement. In addition, Sohar University and PDO will also share HSE expertise and the PDO will become a member of the Advisory Board at the university.
