The University also plans to have affiliation in post-graduate studies with a number of other international universities.

OBJECTIVE OF THE CONFERENCE

The Faculty of Business organizes the International Conference on Applied Business and Economics (ICABE) on an annual basis. The primary objective of this conference is to bring together management professionals, government officials, academicians and students to lay down the strategies for industrial development in the modern era. This conference will act as a forum for exchange of innovative strategies and latest managerial practices between academicians and practitioners to bridge the gap. The ICABE will be organized by the Faculty of Business, Sohar University during December 14-15, 2010 at Sohar University Campus.

Value addition, creativity, effective and efficient management or improved productivity have become the factors of paramount importance in the wake of globalization. Though nobody can forecast the success of an innovation, it is the basis of entrepreneurship. A nation’s competitiveness depends on its companies’ ability to innovate and upgrade. Information also plays a major role in the process of innovation. Most of the time innovators are from different industry/country and need not be from within. Innovation requires work rather than genius, focus, persistence, commitment and knowledge. Today across the globe, the corporations have already started identifying innovative strategies for maintaining their core competence and competitive advantage.
