Get prepared for studying remotely

There’s a wide range of digital tools and services to help you study remotely. The SU ITS team is here to help with IT support to get you setup and connected, ready for Blended Learning study.

Using the SULMS

All subjects are taught via a blend of learning activities and discussion forums which are hosted on the SULMS. This means you can participate in your courses by downloading the slides, videos, reading materials and practice tests, and joining the chat rooms and discussion forums set up by your lecturers.

Guides and Resources

SULMS help is available any time with the Sohar University SULMS support channels, including Blended Learning chat and phone.

FAQ’s- Student’s

Who can I contact?

SULMS help is available any time with their dedicated 24/7 support channels, including online chat and phone.

I should have access to a course but I can’t find it. What do I do?

First, log in to https://sulms.su.edu.om  to check your enrolment status.

Once logged in to the SULMS, your current courses will be displayed on your dashboard. To view all courses you are a part of, click on courses in the global navigation menu, then click All Courses.

If you do not see your courses listed under All Courses then contact your teacher or course coordinator.

Why can't I access my Course as a student?

Sometimes there are a few reasons why you cannot access your courses.

  • If you are self-enrolling in a course using a enrollment code, you may not have completed the registration process. Check your email for information from your instructor as to how to enroll in your course.
  • If your Course coordinator enrolled you in your course, your enrollment may not have been set up properly. Please contact your instructor(s) for assistance.
  • Each course is associated with a specific access date. Depending on the date associated with the course, you may not yet be able to view your course.
  • Courses must be published by your institution before you can access them. If a course is not accessible to you in your course list, it may not be published.
  • Access to concluded courses may be restricted by your institution.
  • Confirm your browser is up to date.

Which browsers does SULMS support?

Because it’s built using web standards, SULMS runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, or any other device with a modern web browser.

Supported Browsers

SULMS supports the current and first previous major releases of the following browsers:

  • Chrome 80 and 81
  • Firefox 74 and 75
  • Edge 80 and 81
  • Safari 12 and 13 (Macintosh only)

You should always use the most current version of your preferred browser. Your browser will notify you if there is a new version available.

JavaScript

JavaScript must be enabled to run SULMS.

Browser Plugins and Extensions

Some browser plugins or extensions may conflict with SULMS and affect functionality. If you experience behavior that does not allow you to view or participate in SULMS courses, please ensure you have disabled any extensions or plugins that interact directly with your web browser.

For troubleshooting, consider logging in to SULMS using an incognito or private browser window, which will provide a browser session without any prior browsing or search history, associated browser cookies, or other factors that may interfere with the browser. If you are able to view and participate in SULMS using an incognito or private browser window, the behavior you are experiencing is likely related to the browser and not SULMS.

Known Browser Behaviors

Chrome and Firefox use HTML5 to display website content, promoting a faster, more secure browsing experience. HTML5 audio and video is currently not supported in Microsoft and Safari browsers, and audio and video must still be used via Flash.

For best performance in SULMS, course content has been designed to support HTML5. Any affected content in Microsoft and Safari browsers can still be accessed by manually allowing permission for flash content in the browser.

In browsers such as Safari, insecure content will never be displayed in the browser.

However, in Chrome and Firefox, you have the option to view insecure content. Please be aware of possible restrictions and view insecure content with caution.
